A Little Autumn Magic from Corrales 🎈 + A Gift from My Kitchen

There is something about fall in Corrales that feels a little like magic.

The mornings turn crisp. The cottonwoods begin their golden transformation. The Sandias catch the first light of day, and for a few extraordinary mornings each October, our New Mexico skies fill with colorful balloons drifting quietly above the valley.

It is one of my favorite reminders that sometimes the most beautiful way to begin a day is simply to slow down and look up.

I took this photograph a few years ago during Balloon Fiesta season, right here in Corrales. Every time I see it, I am reminded of how fortunate we are to call this beautiful corner of the desert home.

And with the changing seasons comes an invitation to change our rhythms, too.

At Desert Ritual | House of Medicine, I believe that health is cultivated in the ordinary moments of our lives. The meals we prepare. The way we begin our mornings. The care we take to nourish ourselves before the demands of the day begin.

A LITTLE FALL GIFT FROM MY KITCHEN TO YOURS

In celebration of autumn and Balloon Fiesta season, I am sharing two complimentary recipe collections:

Warm Morning Rituals — Winter Nourishment from the Desert Ritual Kitchen

A collection of comforting, gluten-free, protein-forward breakfasts featuring warm porridges, savory egg dishes, seasonal fruits, nourishing soups, and a little New Mexico chile.

The Plant-Based Winter Table — A Vegan Companion

A thoughtful collection of vegan adaptations that preserve the warmth, flavor, and protein-centered intention of the original recipes, using ingredients such as tofu, tempeh, legumes, and other nourishing plant foods.

Both collections reflect my philosophy that food should be more than fuel. It should be a source of nourishment, pleasure, connection, and everyday prevention.

No complicated rules. No perfection required.

Just wholesome ingredients, thoughtful nutrition, and a few more beautiful reasons to begin your morning with intention.

As the balloons rise over our valley and the desert welcomes another autumn, I hope you find a little more space to slow down, nourish yourself, and enjoy the season.

From my home and kitchen to yours, wishing you a beautiful fall and a little New Mexico magic.

P.S. Whether your mornings begin with a warm bowl of cinnamon oats, a savory green chile skillet, or a quiet cup of broth, remember: medicine doesn't only happen in the clinic. Sometimes, it begins in the kitchen.
